SCORE Talks Business: Every Business Needs a Plan
A comprehensive, totally defined Business
Plan could mean the difference between success and failure. More
Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) "Counselors
to America's Small Business" is a national non-profit
organization of volunteer retired and semi-retired business
executives. The association fills a need in communities by
providing no-fee business counseling and mentoring to
entrepreneurs. This service is provided at no charge by a team
of over 10,500 volunteers and 389 chapters nationwide. SCORE
is a resource partner with the Small Business Administration
(SBA).
Our SCORE counselors meet on Wednesday mornings by
appointment only at the Farmers Branch Chamber office. To

Calling all
golfers!!
The 18th Annual Farmers Branch Chamber
of Commerce Golf Classic will be held Monday,
August 27, 2007 at Brookhaven Country Club. Registration
begins at 7:30
a.m. with an
8:30
a.m. tee
time. If
you would like to participate call Lara at the
Chamber.
The per person entry fee is $155.00 until August
1st and after that date the cost is $180.00. For that
price you get breakfast and lunch, a great goodie bag
filled with nice gifts and a member day pass to
Brookhaven Country Club. What a bargain! If you are not
a golfer there are still many ways you can
participate.
Donate an item for the goodie bag, sponsor a hole
or volunteer to help that day. We hope you will
get involved.
We hope to
see you all at our next Chamber Luncheon on Friday,
August 10th at 11:30
a.m. at the
Doubletree Hotel on Valley View. Our speaker is
Linda
Bailey of the
Texas State Securities Board. She will discuss
how to recognize common investment scams and frauds.

month! On August 24th the Holiday Inn Select
North Dallas will be having a ribbon cutting and open
house to introduce the new owners of the hotel to the

a.m. followed by lunch. In addition,
on August 30th at 4:00 p.m. we will hold a
Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the new location of
Jesse
Abercrombie's Edward Jones office. Please mark your

investment fraud. Through the presentation, you will

prevalent financial scams in Texas and tips on how to
avoid investment fraud.

Education Committee Update

Branch Independent School District Superintendent
Dr. Annette
Griffin is the
featured speaker at the Chamber's "State of Education" Luncheon
on September 14. Dr. Griffin
served in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD early in her
career before becoming an elementary school principal,
an assistant superintendent for instruction/curriculum
and the superintendent for the Duncanville ISD and the
Southlake Carroll ISD. She came "home"
to C-FB ISD as superintendent in 1997.
Dr. Griffin is recognized for educational
leadership across Texas and the
nation. She
works actively to build partnerships between the
District, parents, local governments, local universities
and colleges, chambers of commerce and businesses. Her remarks to the
Chamber on September 14 will address the State of
Public
Education in the
Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. |
