Dear
Lara,
The Prime
Time Tradeshow and Luncheon was once again an astounding
success. We
had more booths this year than last and the enthusiasm
was terrific! In visiting with the businesses and
non-profits that were there everyone was excited to
participate and felt it beneficial to their business.
Each business showcased their products and/or services
and gave away many free gifts. This event was a
great opportunity for businesses to network and many
asked that the Chamber expand the event to twice a
year.
Calling all
golfers!!
The 18th Annual Farmers Branch Chamber
of Commerce Golf Classic will be held Monday,
August 27, 2007 at
Brookhaven Country Club. Registration
begins at 7:30
a.m. with an
8:30
a.m. shot-gun
start. If
you would like to participate call Lara at the
Chamber.
The entry fee is $155.00 until August 1st and
after that date the cost is $180.00. For that price you
get breakfast and lunch, a great goodie bag filled with
nice gifts and a member day pass to Brookhaven Country
Club. The member for a day pass entitles the bearer and
3 others to play at Brookhaven Country Club for only the
cost of your carts. What a bargain! If you are not
a golfer there are still many ways you can
participate.
Donate an item for the goodie bag, sponsor a hole
or volunteer to help that day. We hope you will
get involved.
There are
many exciting events happening in Farmers
Branch. Don't forget
July 3rd at 7:30
p.m. is the
annual Farmers Branch Independence Day
Party at the Farmers
Branch Historical
Park. Also the
Dallas Texans Soccer Club will build its new home in
Farmers
Branch - a
six-field soccer complex on the West
Side near Luna
and Valley View.
This will bring in dollars for our hotels and
restaurants as well as other businesses.
Thank you to
all who attended the Ribbon Cutting on the West
Side for the
City of Farmers
Branch Convention and
Visitors Bureau. It was a great
event and the food was delicious. This complex will be a
great asset to the City.
Our next
Chamber Luncheon will be on Friday, August
10th at 11:30
am at the
Doubletree Hotel on Valley View. Our speaker is
Linda
Bailey of the
Texas State Securities Board. She will discuss
"How to Recognize Common Investment Scams and Frauds".

Texas State Securities Board is responsible for
protecting Texas investors. The goal of the presentation
is to educate participants on protecting themselves from
investment fraud.
Through the presentation, you will
learn how to check out an investment professional. In
addition, learn how to find out about investment
products you may be considering.

10th and leave with a wealth of knowledge about the most
prevalent financial scams in Texas and tips on how to
avoid investment fraud.

Education Committee Update

Branch
The Lorraine and Dave Blair
Scholarship fund is used to provide college scholarships
to seniors at R.L. Turner High School. The
recipients are selected by members of the Education
Committee who interview the scholarship candidates and
consider the students' academic record, college
placement scores, extracurricular activities and
financial need when selecting the winners.
Donations are needed to award these scholarships in May
2008. Please contribute to the fund when attending
the Chamber luncheons or by mailing a contribution to
the Chamber
office. |
