Richard Brown, Chairman of the Board

It's hard to believe March is fast approaching and we have already had a well attended State of the City Dinner and a successful February Sweetheart luncheon. In addition we have had two educational seminars. All of this providing our members with lots of benefits and networking opportunities. I hope your company or organization is attending these activities as it only gets better in 2008.

Thank you to our Special Events and Member Relations/Ambassador Committees for their hard work and planning as they worked closely with our Chamber Staff to ensure these successful events. A big thank you to Joan Abbey & Ed Thompson for the beautiful table decorations at our February luncheon and to our sponsor Your Federal Credit Union.

Mark your calendars for Friday, March 14th for our next Membership Luncheon to be held at Brookhaven Country Club. Judy Bragg, Bragg Resources will share her expertise on building referrals. Her message is,"Request Referrals Repeatedly". Call the Chamber Office to make your reservation today!

The 6th Annual Wild and Wacky Waiters Dinner will be held Friday, April 4th at Brookhaven Country Club. We have some very talented and creative members who really get into the theme each year. Who will be the celebrity waiters in 2008? Make your plans to be part of this fun and entertaining evening. You have got to be there to believe it. Also, remember the live and silent auctions too. What great advertising for your company or organization. Plan to attend and be sure to donate an item or two for the auctions.

Sincerely,

Richard Brown

Chairman of the Board

TOWN NORTH BANK RECIEVES 2008 TAPE CRYSTAL AWARD
The Texas Association of Partners in Education announced their 2008 TAPE Education Partnership Award winners at the TAPE Annual Banquet on January 29, 2008 in Austin, Texas.  Town North Bank and the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD received the Crystal Award in the Texas Business Partnership category in the Medium District-Medium Business division.  This prestigious award, the highest award presented by the organization, is a well-deserved honor for Town North Bank.

Over the past seventeen years, Town North Bank has made it possible for 78 students to attend college by providing more than $227,000 in scholarships for graduating seniors in the Carrollton-FarmersBranchSchool District.  Without these funds, many of these students may not have been able to afford to attend college.  Also, many of the recipients are the first in their families to attend college.

In addition, over the past five years, Town North Bank has allowed many of its employees to be trained and then to present the Texas Scholars theme to middle school students in our school district.  The intent of the Texas Scholars program is to encourage the 8th graders to take more challenging courses when they attend high school.

Over the years, Town North Bank has also helped sponsor the New Teacher Luncheon, the Red Ribbon Breakfast, the Leadership Graduation Luncheon, and the Student Recognition Luncheon.

We want to congratulate Town North Bank on being recognized by the Texas Association of Partners in Education.  We are also very thankful for the generous support that the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD has received from Town North Bank over the years.

RLT SENIOR WALK SCHOLARSHIPS

The Senior Walk at R.L.TurnerHigh School will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008.  Each year, a number of businesses present scholarships to the graduating seniors on behalf of their company.  If your business is interested in presenting a scholarship to a R. L. Turner senior at the Senior Walk next May, please contact Lara Orlic at lorlic@fbchamber.com, or (972) 243-8966.
