Chairman's
Message
Jeanne Hooker, Chairman
of the Board
The
8th Annual Branch Business Forum was very
informative and the speakers provided a wealth of
information that would be beneficial to any
business.
We want to thank the City of Farmers
Branch, Time
Warner Cable, Oncor, Town North Bank, C-FB ISD, and
Reliant Energy for their support to make this a
successful event.
The next
major event is our Annual Student Recognition Luncheon
which will be held on Friday,
November 16, 2007 at
Brookhaven Country Club at 11:30
am. Our keynote
speaker will be Dr. Wright Lassiter, Chancellor for
Dallas County Community College District. Please make
your reservation early as seats will fill up
quickly.
There will
be 240 students from R.L.Turner, Early
College High School,
Texas Can
Academy, and Mary Grimes in attendance. Once again there
is an essay contest with the winner receiving a grand
prize. This year's essay topic is, "The opportunity to
be successful in your career and to contribute to one's
community is important to society. Tell how you plan to
serve and give back to your community once you have
completed your formal education. Why is this important?"
Tote bags for the students have been provided by the
Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Brookhaven
College and
Dallas
Christian
College. Thank You for
this sponsorship! The students will thoroughly
enjoy.
The Farmers Branch Chamber is still
selling ads for the new membership directory so if you
have not purchased one you might want to consider doing
so as the directory is sent to all Farmers Branch
businesses as well as the Chamber membership. What better way
to get your business in front of so many possible
customers and clients. It is definitely
worth the money.
So contact the Chamber office
today!
This year has quickly gone by and we do
hope that we have provided you with worthwhile programs
that you feel have been beneficial to you and your
Company. We
thank you for your investment in the Farmers Branch
Chamber of Commerce and hope to continue the partnership
with you.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Hooker
Chairman of the

Education Committee Update
by Mary Jane Stevenson, City of Farmers
Branch
The 13th
Annual Youth Leadership Class has started with the
selection of 20 outstanding juniors from R.L. Turner
High School who will spend the next seven months
learning about their local and state government, as well
as, how to be effective leaders during their senior
year. Of course, the ultimate goal is that these
students will return to Farmers Branch after their
college years and become mayors, council members and
Chamber of Commerce members of the future! A special
thanks to IBM for being the Chamber's sponsor for this
worthwhile program.
The Annual Student Recognition Luncheon will be
held on November 16th at Brookhaven Country Club.
Dr. Wright Lassiter, the chancellor of the Dallas County
Community College District, will be the featured
speaker.
It's not too early to make a donation to the
Farmers Branch Chamber's Scholarship Fund. If your
business decides to make a donation to the Fund, you
will be recognized at the heavily attended R.L. Turner
High School "Senior Walk" at the end of the school year
when students receive their scholarships.
